What is a Naiad?
A naiad is a lovely nymph of Greek lore
Who lives in the streams and the springs
She is fond of her home and will bless those who come
But beware of her wrath if you sin
She is not like a mermaid who swims in the sea
Nor a siren who lures with her song
She is more like a fairy who dwells in the green
And she likes to keep nature strong
She is part of a group called the water deities
Who are ruled by the god Poseidon
She has sisters and cousins who live in the seas
And the rivers and lakes of the land.

What does a Naiad look like?
A naiad is a lovely nymph of water
Who lives in springs and streams and lakes and rivers
She has a human form, but fairer, brighter
With flowing hair and eyes that shine like silver
She loves to swim and dance and sing and play
With other naiads and the fish and frogs
She cares for plants and animals that stay
Within her watery realm of mists and fogs
But do not cross a naiad or offend her
By polluting or destroying her domain
For she can be quite vengeful and unfriendly
And make you drown or suffer endless pain
So if you see a naiad, be respectful
And admire her beauty from afar
Or better yet, just leave her undisturbed
And let her be the guardian of her star.
