A fire elemental is a fantasy creature that is made of fire and has some degree of intelligence and will.
Fire elementals are often associated with the element of fire, one of the four classical elements in ancient philosophy and alchemy.
Fire elementals may have different forms and abilities, depending on the source of their creation and the rules of the fantasy world they inhabit.

Some common traits of fire elementals are:
  • They can manipulate fire and heat, creating flames, sparks, explosions, or even controlling the temperature of their surroundings.
  • They are immune to fire damage, but vulnerable to water and cold damage, which can extinguish or weaken them.
  • They can move through small spaces without squeezing, as they have no solid form.
They can also enter a hostile creature's space and ignite them with their touch.
  • They shed bright light in a dark environment, making them easy to spot but also useful for illumination.
  • They may speak a language related to fire, such as Ignan, the language of fire elementals in Dungeons & Dragons.
  • They may have a personality that reflects their fiery nature, such as being impulsive, passionate, aggressive, or destructive.
Some examples of fire elementals in fantasy are:
  • The salamander, a lizard-like creature that lives in fire and can breathe fire.
It is based on the mythical salamander of medieval alchemy and folklore.
  • The Balrog, a demon of fire and shadow that appears in The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien.
It is a powerful and ancient enemy that can wield a whip and a sword of flame.
  • The Firelands, the domain of fire elementals on the Elemental Plane in World of Warcraft.
It is ruled by the Firelord, who was once Ragnaros the Firelord, a mighty elemental lord who tried to destroy Azeroth.

What does a Fire elemental look like?

A fire elemental is a beast of flame
That burns everything in its way
It has a scaly skin of black
And a golden sphere on its back

It can fly and spit fireballs
And make the enemies cower and crawl
It lives in the realm of the Firelands
Where it obeys the Firelord's commands

A fire elemental is not a friend
But a foe that you must fend
Unless you have a magic spell
To tame it and make it well

A fire elemental is a fantasy creature
That you can find in many a feature
Like books, games, and movies too
But don't let it get too close to you.
