Camponotus
Where does the Camponotus live?
Camponotus is a genus of ants
That live in many forest lands
They build their nests inside the wood
But do not eat it, as they should
They prefer the dead and damp
And chew out galleries with their clamp
They also tend the aphids well
And drink the honeydew they expel
They are diverse and widely spread
With many species and subgenus
They are the largest ant genus
And often called the carpenter ants
What does the Camponotus look like?
Camponotus is a genus of ants
That live in many forests and plants
They are quite large and have strong jaws
They chew out wood to make their halls
Some people call them carpenter ants
Because they build their nests like champs
But they don't eat the wood they bore
They just throw it out the door
They also like to farm some aphids
And get some honeydew as a treat
They protect them from other bugs
And stroke them gently with their mugs
Camponotus is a diverse group
With many species in their troop
They come in different shapes and colors
But they are all amazing workers
