Barracuda

A barracuda is a fish of the sea
With sharp teeth and a fearsome spree
It hunts for its prey in tropical waters
And sometimes grows bigger than otters

It belongs to the genus Sphyraena
The only one in the family Sphyraenidae
It has two dorsal fins and a forked tail
And can swim very fast without fail

Some people like to catch it for sport
Or eat it as food of some sort
But beware of the toxin that may lurk
In its flesh and cause some hurt

Barracuda is a fish that’s known for its speed and teeth
It can swim as fast as a shark and bite with a lot of heat
It has a fearsome reputation and a sleek and shiny look
But it also has a weakness that you won’t find in a book

Barracuda is afraid of shiny things that flash and glitter
It thinks they are its rivals and it wants to make them bitter
It will chase them with aggression and attack them with a snap
But it doesn’t realize that it’s falling for a trap

Barracuda is often fooled by fishermen who use a lure
They make it look like a fish that the barracuda can’t endure
They reel it in with skill and patience and then they have their prize
A barracuda on the hook that looks very surprised
