With barbels on their mouth
They use them to find food and wish
They lived in warmer south

Some Barbus are quite small and cute
Like cherry or rosy barb
They swim in tanks or ponds to suit
Their colorful garb

Some Barbus are quite big and strong
Like mahseer or common barbel
They fight the currents all day long
And anglers find them hard to tackle

Barbus is a diverse group of fish
With many shapes and sizes
But if you ask me for a dish
I'd say avoid their roes, they're poisonous!
