Eagles have different habitats depending on their species, but they generally prefer open areas near water sources or mountainous and forested regions.

They build large nests on tall trees or cliffs, where they raise their young.

They hunt for various prey, such as fish, rodents, reptiles, and other birds.

Some of the best-known eagle species are:
  • The bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus).
It lives throughout North America, from Alaska to Mexico.
It is often found near rivers, lakes, and oceans, where it feeds on fish and seabirds.

  • The eastern imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca) is a large and powerful eagle that inhabits Eurasia, from Eastern Europe to Central Asia.
It prefers open habitats such as steppes, grasslands, and deserts, where it hunts for mammals, birds, and reptiles.

  • The harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja) is one of the largest and strongest eagles in the world.
It lives in the tropical forests of South America and some parts of Central America.
It feeds mainly on monkeys, sloths, and macaws.

  • The golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is a widespread and adaptable eagle that occurs in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
It can live in various habitats, such as mountains, plains, and tundra, where it preys on mammals, birds, and reptiles.

The eagle is a majestic bird of prey with a powerful beak and talons.
It has a large wingspan and a keen eyesight that allows it to spot its prey from afar.
The eagle's feathers are usually brown, black, white or gray, depending on the species.
Some eagles have distinctive markings on their heads, such as the bald eagle's white cap or the golden eagle's golden crown.
In many cultures, this bird is a symbol of strength, courage and freedom.
