Gazelles are graceful and agile animals that belong to the antelope family.
They are known for their speed, which can reach up to 60 mph (100 kph) in short bursts, and their ability to leap high in the air, called pronking or stotting.
This helps them escape from predators like cheetahs, lions, and hyenas.
Gazelles are also known for their horns, which are curved and ringed, and their tan or reddish-brown coats with white rumps.
Some species have spots or stripes on their fur.
Gazelles live in hot and dry habitats like savannas and deserts in Africa and Asia, where they feed on grasses and shrubs.
They can survive with little water by shrinking their heart and liver to reduce water loss through breathing.
