A Dune cat is a name for a real animal, the sand cat, which is a small wild cat that inhabits sandy and stony deserts in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

It has sandy to light grey fur with dark spots or stripes, and large ears.

It also has furry feet that protect it from the hot sand and help it dig burrows.

The sand cat can survive without drinking water for long periods of time by getting moisture from its prey.
