Where does the Bison live?
There are two living species of bison:
the American bison (Bison bison).
The American bison is native to North America, where it once roamed in vast herds across the continent.
Today, the American bison is found only in protected areas, such as national parks, reserves, and ranches.
The largest population of American bison is in Yellowstone National Park and Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada.
The American bison prefers open habitats, such as plains, grasslands, savannas, and semiarid lands. The European bison (Bison bonasus), also known as the wisent.
The European bison is native to Europe and the Caucasus, where it was once widespread and abundant.
However, due to hunting, habitat loss, and diseases, the European bison became extinct in the wild by the early 20th century.
Thanks to conservation efforts, the European bison has been reintroduced to several countries, such as Poland, Belarus, Russia, Germany, and Romania.
The largest wild population of European bison is in the Białowieża Forest.
The European bison inhabits mixed forests, meadows, and pastures.

Chronicle of the Squeaky Ball: The Triumph of Sunny the Bison
Our story begins with Willow, a scholar known far and wide not just for her ornithological expertise but for her relentless quest for novelty. Equipped with her trusty binoculars and an insatiable curiosity, Willow wandered the plains with the grace of a gazelle and the purpose of a hedgehog on a mission. However, on this fateful day, she was accompanied by an unusual companion - a bison named Sunny, whose heart was as boundless as the prairie sky.
Sunny was no ordinary bison. Adopted by Willow after an ill-fated foray into the world of exotic pets, Sunny had an adventurous spirit and an insatiable appetite for exploration. Yet, despite his imposing size and formidable antlers, he retained an endearing sense of wonder. Together, Willow and Sunny roamed the wild expanses, an unlikely pair with an unyielding bond.
One serene afternoon, as the sun cast golden rays upon the rolling grasslands, Sunny's keen senses detected a peculiar object partially buried in the dirt. With the enthusiasm of a child finding a hidden treasure, he nudged it with his large, velvety nose. It was then that Willow, distracted by the melodious chirping of a distant warbler, noticed Sunny's commotion.
"What on earth have you found, Sunny?" Willow inquired, her voice tinged with curiosity and amusement. As she approached, the object came into view - a small, rubbery sphere with an enigmatic allure. It was adorned with colorful patterns and, as Willow picked it up, it emitted a high-pitched squeak that resonated like the distant call of a rare bird.
Sunny's reaction was nothing short of explosive. His eyes widened in sheer astonishment, and he began to prance around Willow with uncontainable glee. The squeaky ball, it seemed, had unleashed a primal joy within him. With each squeak, Sunny's boundless energy intensified, and he performed an exuberant dance across the plains - twisting, twirling, and occasionally bumping into the startled flora.
Willow, bemused by the spectacle, soon realized the profound significance of the moment. This was no mere toy; it was a paradigm shift in bison entertainment. As Sunny continued his ecstatic frolic, Willow began to ponder the implications of this discovery. Could this seemingly inconsequential object hold the key to a new era of interspecies interaction? Was it, in essence, a bridge between human innovation and the untamed spirit of wildlife?
In the weeks that followed, Sunny's newfound obsession with the squeaky ball became the stuff of legend. The chronicles of Sunny's joyful escapades spread across the plains like wildfire, drawing curious onlookers and eager participants. Willow, ever the astute observer, documented each squeak and bound with meticulous detail, noting the profound impact of the ball on Sunny's overall happiness and well-being.
Thus, the Squeaky Ball was immortalized not just as a mere object but as a symbol of unbridled joy and discovery. In the grand tapestry of life, where the extraordinary often emerges from the ordinary, Sunny the Bison and his squeaky ball became icons of a whimsical yet profound truth: that the simplest pleasures often lead to the most epic adventures.
So, let this chronicle serve as a testament to the boundless wonder that lies in unexpected discoveries and the joyful exuberance of a bison who found happiness in a squeaky ball. For in the heart of every adventure, there is a squeak waiting to be discovered.
