Bats usually prefer dark and safe places to roost, such as caves, mines, bridges, trees, chimneys, attics and abandoned buildings.
Different species of bats may choose different habitats depending on the season, the availability of food, water and predators.
Some bats migrate to warmer regions during the winter, where they can hibernate in large groups.
Other bats may remain active throughout the year, but change their roosting sites according to the temperature and humidity.
