Long time ago, far away, in the shadow of the Nine Realms, where stars whispered secrets and the winds carried echoes of ancient battles, a legend was born - a tale of courage, betrayal, and a melody lost to time. This is the story of Freydis, the Valkyrie of the Forgotten Melody.
Long ago, before the twilight of the gods, the Valkyries were more than warriors of the slain. Each bore a gift, a fragment of the cosmic harmony that wove existence together. Freydis, the youngest of Odin's shield-maidens, was unique among them. With hair as golden as the sun and a voice imbued with a magic that could heal wounds and still storms, she was the keeper of the
Melody of Eternity - an ethereal song that bridged the mortal and divine.

With a sword in hand and golden armor gleaming in the forest light, this warrior exudes strength and determination—ready for whatever challenge lies ahead.
But the realms were not at peace. Surtr, the fire giant of Muspelheim, sought to claim the melody and unmake the harmony of Yggdrasil itself. With the melody in his grasp, he would unleash Ragnarok prematurely, destroying gods and mortals alike. To prevent this, Odin entrusted Freydis with the task of safeguarding the melody, hiding it in the deepest recesses of her soul.
The Betrayal
The Valkyries were loyal to Odin, but jealousy festered among them. Brynja, an elder Valkyrie, resented Freydis for her beauty and gift. She believed Odin's favor had been stolen from her and sought to right what she deemed an injustice.
On the eve of battle, as Freydis prepared to lead the Valkyries into the fray against Surtr's advancing horde, Brynja betrayed her. Using forbidden magic, she lured Freydis into a trap. Freydis was bound in chains of unbreakable shadow, her song silenced, and the melody extracted by Brynja's treachery. But the magic was too great for Brynja to wield, and as she tried to claim it, the melody fractured, scattering across the Nine Realms in shards of haunting, wordless notes.
Freydis escaped her bonds through sheer will, but the damage had been done. The melody was lost, and Surtr was advancing. Determined to atone and reclaim her gift, Freydis vowed to recover the fragments of the forgotten melody, no matter the cost.
The Quest
Freydis's journey began in Midgard, where she sought the first fragment hidden within the heart of the mortal world. Guided by the spirit of the Norns, she ventured into forests where ancient creatures still lingered. There, she faced the
Krakenspawn, an eldritch beast guarding the fragment. With her twin swords, Sol and Mán, blazing with divine fury, she danced through its tentacles, striking with precision and grace. Her voice, though broken, resonated just enough to weaken the beast, allowing her to claim the shard.
Each fragment reclaimed came with a trial that tested her strength, wit, and resolve. In Alfheim, she faced the blinding
Light Serpent, its venomous glare threatening to consume her. In Svartalfheim, she braved the forges of the Dark Elves, their traps and deceit nearly costing her life. In Helheim, she confronted her own fears and doubts, battling shades of those she had failed to save.

With sword in hand and a smile that could disarm even the fiercest foe, this figure stands proud, radiating confidence and charm.
As Freydis collected each fragment, the melody began to return to her. But it was incomplete, and its absence left her vulnerable to Surtr's forces, who hunted her relentlessly.
The Final Battle
The final shard lay in Muspelheim, deep within the fiery abyss of Surtr's lair. Freydis knew she would face not only Surtr but Brynja, who had joined the fire giant, lured by promises of power. The Valkyrie's betrayal had twisted her into a creature of darkness, her once-beautiful form now a shadowed mockery of itself.
Freydis entered the lair with resolve burning as fiercely as the flames around her. The ground trembled as Surtr rose, his flaming sword igniting the air. Brynja stood beside him, her corrupted voice singing a discordant tune that mocked Freydis's lost melody.
The battle was ferocious. Freydis fought with the grace of a Valkyrie and the fury of a wronged goddess. Sol and Mán clashed against Surtr's blade, their light dimming but never faltering. Brynja's shadow-magic assailed her, but Freydis's heart, strengthened by the fragments she had reclaimed, sang louder.
In a desperate gambit, Freydis unleashed the melody she had gathered. The song resonated through the lair, each note a blade of light that pierced Surtr and Brynja. The fire giant roared, his form unraveling into embers, while Brynja fell to her knees, the shadows consuming her as her betrayal reached its bitter end.

Amidst a winter’s chill, Sól stands as a radiant force, her golden presence a symbol of warmth and power, with the sun as her eternal guide.
With the final fragment reclaimed, the Melody of Eternity was whole once more. Freydis sang it with all her soul, and the harmony rippled across the realms, healing the wounds of battle and restoring balance.
The Legacy of Freydis
Though victorious, Freydis paid a price. The Melody of Eternity was not meant to be wielded by mortals or even Valkyries. By singing its full power, she transcended her physical form, becoming a being of pure light and song. Her essence wove into the fabric of Yggdrasil, ensuring the melody could never again be stolen or broken.
The tale of Freydis became a song sung by Skalds across the Nine Realms, a reminder of courage, sacrifice, and the power of harmony in the face of chaos. And when the winds of the world carried faint, ethereal music, mortals and gods alike knew it was Freydis, the Valkyrie of the Forgotten Melody, watching over them still.
