Cupid
Who is a Cupid?
Cupid is a mythical figure who is often depicted as a winged child or a young man with a bow and arrow.
He is the god of love and desire in Roman mythology, and the son of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love.
Cupid is also known as Amor (Latin for love) or Eros (Greek for desire).
According to some legends, Cupid has two types of arrows: one with a golden tip that causes people to fall in love, and one with a lead tip that causes people to hate or avoid each other.
He often uses his arrows to create or interfere with the relationships of mortals and gods, sometimes for fun, sometimes for revenge, and sometimes to fulfill the wishes of his mother or other deities.
Cupid is also famous for his own love story with Psyche, a beautiful mortal princess who aroused the jealousy of Venus.
Venus ordered Cupid to make Psyche fall in love with a hideous monster, but Cupid fell in love with her instead and secretly visited her at night.
However, Psyche was curious about her lover's identity and disobeyed his instructions not to look at him.
When she saw his divine beauty, she accidentally woke him up and he flew away, angry and hurt.
Psyche then had to undergo many trials and hardships to prove her love and loyalty to Cupid, until they were finally reunited and married.
The gods granted Psyche immortality and she became the goddess of the soul.
Cupid and Psyche had a daughter named Voluptas, the goddess of pleasure.
